Michael has a diverse practice comprising commercial litigation and advice, public law litigation, and regulatory, white collar and corporate criminal investigations, proceedings and advice. He has appeared in various courts in New South Wales, including the Local Court, District Court, Supreme Court, and the Federal Court in first instance and appellate proceedings.

Michael has experience before Royal Commissions and commissions of inquiry including appearing for the Commonwealth of Australia in the Robodebt Royal Commission and the NSW Department of Education before the NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption.

While Michael practices in all areas of public law, regulatory and criminal investigations he has extensive experience in international extradition law, mutual assistance law, law enforcement and proceeds of crime matters.

As an Army Reserve Legal Officer, Michael provides advice to military personnel on administrative law, discipline law, and operations law questions.

Michael is a signatory to the National Pro Bono Target.

Michael is currently a member of the NSW Bar Association’s Wellbeing Committee.

Michael commenced his litigation practice with Blake Dawson (now Ashurst Australia) in their Sydney Litigation and Dispute Resolution Team practising in regulatory enforcement, anti-corruption and bribery, economic sanctions, fraud, general commercial litigation and environmental law. Prior to being called to the Bar, Michael was a Senior Federal Prosecutor at the Office of the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions where he specialised in the prosecution of white collar and corporate crime, including: corporations law offences, criminal cartels, taxation offences and frauds. Michael previously worked as the Associate to the Hon. Justice Brigitte Markovic of the Federal Court of Australia.
