Paul commenced practice at the South African Bar in 1991.

In 2008 he left a successful barrister’s practice in Johannesburg to move to Australia. After spending 4 years in the commercial litigation department at Clayton Utz he returned to the Bar, where he has established a practice specialising in banking and financial services disputes – with a particular emphasis on the regulation of financial services. He has been extensively involved in the Banking Royal Commission. He has also been briefed in a broad range of other commercial disputes, particularly in the equity division of the Supreme Court of NSW.

Many of the matters Paul is briefed in involve industry regulators and professional bodies in contexts such as the advertising industry, health insurance and legal professional disciplinary matters.

Paul has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution, having appeared at arbitrations and mediations, and been appointed as an (accredited) mediator and arbitrator in a number of disputes.
